NoFap – No Desire To Do Anything (Try This)

NoFap – No Desire To Do Anything

Not everyone will start feeling great as soon as they tear themselves away from the computer screen, stop watching porn and start doing NoFap.

Some do, but far from everyone.

Many guys actually feel worse, like they have absolutely no desire to do anything.

The good news is: it will most likely get a lot better.

The bad news is: you can't sit around and wait for motivation – you will have to put in some work.

In this article you will discover how long it can take in order to start feeling better and exactly what to do, in order to improve your situation.

Why do I have no desire to do anything on NoFap?

There are mainly 2 reasons for why some people experience a big drop in desire to do things when going on a NoFap journey.

They are…

  1. A part of your brain is “mourning” the death of your digital harem.
  2. Your dopamine system is messed up.

The first one might sound trivial, but it can actually be a pretty big deal.

A part of your brain has been interpreting all those adult sites as you having plenty of opportunities to spread all kinds of genes. This is your brains top priority. To carry your DNA to the next generation, so again, it is actually a pretty big deal.

Digital girlfriends is a false security…

Since you have been (very diligently), fapping to all kinds of hot babes on the screen, your brain has been under the impression that your status and everything else is under control because, hey, not only do you have a girl friend, but actually thousands of them.

Now you might be saying, “hey, my brain is not that stupid that it thinks I have girlfriends just because I look at porn”. Well, how come it makes you sexually excited by porn the? You have to understand that we are not talking about the logical part of your brain here, but the primitive part. The one that is responsible for making you horny.

…but when you lose them, you get the wind knocked out of you

Then when you start doing NoFap, you suddenly lose whole harem. It's then only natural that your brain is trying to protest.

It protest by making you feel all kinds of negative things. For example by increasing anxiety and stress while reducing desire, motivation and drive.

If you want the real biological explanation for this, the reason for why it happens is probably due to a malfunctioning stress system. A malfunctioning stress system is one of the 4 major addiction related brain changes that I talk about in the video series below.

I recommend you watch both videos to discover exactly what's going on inside your brain when you become addicted to porn. I talk in detail about the malfunctioning stress system in part 2.

The messed up dopamine system…

When we become addicted to something (and it doesn't matter what the addiction) we also get a dysfunctional dopamine system.

This is another reason for why so many guys suddenly experience no desire to do anything on NoFap.

You see, a dysfunctional dopamine system has been linked to some or several of the following…

  • Lack of motivation and drive
  • Low energy
  • Low mood
  • Low libido
  • Poor focus and concentration
  • Poor short term memory
  • Anxiety
  • Feelings of shame

As you can see, lack of motivation and drive is right there at the top of the list.

Now some of you may be wondering, “but hey…if we get a messed up dopamine system while we're addicted, how come I lose even more drive after i quit?”…

That's a good question!

And the answer is simple, because unfortunately, after you quit using it often gets worse before it gets better. That's right, many guys who quit using porn feel far worse for the first 3-4 weeks than they did before quitting.

The already low dopamine levels drop even further, and since dopamine is the “go get it neurotransmitter” this often hits hard on your motivation and drive. It's a big reason for why guys lose desire to do anything while doing NoFap…

…but, the good news is, it's only temporary.

The lost desire on NoFap is only temporary…

If you manage to push through the first few weeks, you will notice how your motivation and your desire for life will, slowly but surely, start to return.

Not only that, but your motivation and desire for life will return with vengeance. That's right, a few months into your NoFap journey you will probably have much more energy and drive than you did before you stopped using porn.

How long will it take until I get energy – drive and motivation?

Everyone's pmo reboot looks a bit different, so no one can tell you exactly how long it's going to take for you.

Many guys start noticing less cravings and more energy about one month in. And att the three month mark almost every rebooter have noticed at lest some of the NoFap benefits. More motivation, focus, drive and desire is often a part of those benefits.

That said, there are those who need much more time than that. Especially when it comes to fixing porn induced sexual problems, like PIED.

What you should do while you're waiting…

Actually, you shouldn't wait for your drive and motivation to roll around.

You should start taking acting despite having no desire to do so.

Sure it's much more difficult to do things when you lack desire, but it's still possible and here's the thing; more often than not action precedes motivation instead of the other way around. This is especially true if you are a bit depressed, which many guys are in the beginning for their reboot.

After having been almost 10 years in the PMO rebooting community myself, I have started to see a scary pattern. And that is that the guys who are not proactive and just sit around and wait for their libido or erections to return, sometimes get stuck in a seemingly never ending flatline…

…the same tends to be true for those who sit around waiting for some other benefit.

If you, on the other hand, are proactive and do things even though you are lacking certain traits, things tend to turn around much faster.

Physical exercise is a must…

Physical exercise is a must when we're feeling down as it helps midigate the negative effects of low dopamine.

I know that doing physical exercise can seem absolutely overwhelming when we lack drive and motivation, but the ironic part is that it's actually then we need exercise the most.

If you can't lift, then go for a short run. If you can't run, then go for a slow walk.

You have to get your body moving because I'm absolutely convinced that physical exercise will not only help you feel better during your journey, but also help speed up your whole PMO recovery.

But what if things are so bad I can't do anything?

Hey I hear you and I get that it's not easy. I really do because there are times in my life I have been so depressed than almost everything was overwhelming.

Even reading a short paragraph in the newspaper, but guess what, you can still take action just as long as you chunk everything down into microscopic size pieces.

You can do it if you…

  • Know your desired goal.
  • Chunk everything down into micro actions.
  • Negotiate with yourself in a serious and friendly manner to find the limit on your “workload”.

No Desire To Do Anything On NoFap
Conclusion And Final Words

If you just started NoFap and you have no desire to do anything, know that it is actually pretty common.

Also know that it will get better, and that things usually start looking brighter after about a month in. But don't sit around and wait for it. Recovery tends to be much quicker if you keep working on your goals and being proactive.

In other words, don't put your life on hold. Desire or not, you gotta put yourself out there and do some living. Then, sooner rather than later, you'll find that things will indeed turn around for you.
