NoFap – Can’t Sleep Because Of The Energy (7 Easy Tips)

NoFap – Can't Sleep Because Of The Energy

As a guys who has been involved in the PMO rebooting community for about 10 years now, I have a lot of experience with things that can happen after embarking on a NoFap journey.

Things like for example => NoFap increasing energy levels to the point of making sleeping somewhat of an issue!

So, if you're having problems with sleep because of NoFap, here follows a few tips for you…

Tip #1 Exercise Hard – But Not Too Close To Bedtime

NoFap tends to give you a lot of increased energy. It's up to each and everyone how they want to use it, but one thing is for sure, if you don't find any way to channel that energy, it can lead to difficulty sleeping, and for some, even increased anger.

I personally love the increased feeling of energy, since I spend a lot of that energy on lifting heavy weights, running in the forest or just moving my body in some other way.

That significantly helps with sleep as well.

However, one mistake a lot of guys are making is that they exercise too close to bedtime. Don't do that since that won't help you sleep at all. That will actually only make it worse.

As a general rule of thumb it would be great if you had a 2h time buffer between your exercise and the moment your head hits the pillow. Some people even need a bigger buffer than that, depending on the person and on what form of exercise they're doing.

My advice: do exercise! A combo of gym training and cardio would be great. Exercise hard and intensively, but not too close to bedtime.

Tip #2 Take A Cold Shower 2 Hours Before Bed

Some people think that cold showers will make you alert and full of energy.

You know what?

They're right!

So, how could they possibly help you sleep then?

Cold showers do indeed make you more alert, but did you know that they also significantly lower your heart rate for several hours after taking the shower?

No?

Well, now you know.

And having your heart beat at a slower pace is going to be of help when going to sleep a few hours later.

If you still find that taking a cold shower makes you feel way to energized for sleep, then try taking one a bit earlier e.g. 3-4 hours before bedtime.

Tip #3 ProVanax Reduces Anxiety And Helps You Sleep

ProVanax is an over the counter, natural, product that helps with…

  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Insomnia
  • Low mood

It's now many years ago since I first tried ProVanax, but I can vividly remember my very first time. I still had my day job and back then I often suffered from both social anxiety and panic attacks.

Well, the very first time I tried ProVanax I took it before going to work, and what followed was a whole day of me being talkative and relaxed, yet very focused and on my work at the same time. It fel amazing.

I can highly recommend it.

In fact, If I think ProVanax is probably the best over the counter supplement for anxiety and insomnia you can currently find on the market today.

Tip #4 Go Operation Blackout

‘Operation blackout' is a period of time when I turn off my phone and my shut down my internet connection. Usually2-3 hours before bedtime.

I do this for several reasons, but mainly to give my brain a rest from all the stimuli that today's online word is bombarding it with.

And you know what?…

…it seriously helps with sleep!

If you can spend the last coupe of hours, being mindful, while doing any, or several, of the following…

  • Making dinner
  • Reading a real physical book
  • Journaling / writing
  • Talking to a friend
  • Meditating
  • Planning your future (goals / to do lists)
  • Cleaning
  • Playing a musical instrument
  • Being outside in the nature

…well, then you will drastically improve your sleep quality.

You see, the mindfulness activities above are serotonin driven. And if you didn't know, serotonin actually helps reset your dopamine. Pretty interesting, huh?

In fact, I'm currently working on a video on my YouTube channel Project Stronger Self, where I talk about how doing things like that, at the end of your day, actually helps reset your dopamine system (which is a good thing).

I have a lot of videos about NoFap, self-improvement and how to live a no pmo lifestyle, over there.

Tip #5 Cool Bedroom

You should always keep your bedroom cool as well.

This is something that a lot of people have read and know about, yet few actually try it out. That's kind of strange, since it really works, and unless you live in a very warm country, without air conditioning, it's very easy to do.

Just try it!

Take down the temperature a couple of notches and watch what it does to your sleep quality.

Tip #6 Transmute Your Sexual Energy

As we stated in the very beginning of this article, the reason for why getting a good nights sleep on NoFap can be a bit difficult is because of the increase in energy NoFap gives you.

Well, you can learn to transmute that energy into working on some important life goals you have set for yourself. In fact, this is what I recommend every guy on NoFap do.

Since NoFap is so powerful it's like guys are wasting some kind of “super fuel” available for them, if they don't take advantage of it, by directing the energy increase towards achieving goals.

You do have goals, don't you?

If not, you know what to do…

…get started by writing some down, right away!

Tip #7 Eat Foods Rich in Tryptophan

If you're having trouble sleeping, you should make sure to include some foods that are high in tryptophan into your diet.

This is because your brain uses tryptophan to make several interesting molecules, including melatonin.

Melatonin, as you perhaps know, is also known as the sleep hormone, and having plenty of it will definitely help with sleep.

Here are some foods that are high in tryptophan…

  • Nuts and seeds
  • Milk
  • Cheese
  • Turkey and chicken
  • Tuna
  • Lean pork chops
  • Beef
  • Firm tofu

I would include at least some of those in your evening dinner.

In addiction, make sure to also eat a small about of carbs about 30 minutes before bedtime. Your body will react to those carbs with a small insulin response, just enough to push the tryptophan in your blood stream through the blood brain barrier and into your brain…

…making you relaxed and sleepy.

You might need less sleep in general when doing NoFap

Finally I would like to point out that some people have found that they need less sleep in general, when doing NoFap.

This is certainly the case for me as well.

Now, we're all different so I'm not saying this is going to be the case for you, but I still wanted to point it out.

So why does this happen?

Well, no one really knows.

Is it because of the increased energy itself, or is the sleep quality so much better once porn is out of our live, that we wake up earlier, feeling better rested? My guess is that it might be a combination of both.

Whatever it is, I kind of like it.
