NoFap And Ashwagandha (Benefits it May Give)
NoFap And Ashwagandha
Can Ashwagandha be used on your NoFap journey?
Well, some people do use it, and before we take a closer look at how it may potentially help some guys, let's go through the basics a bit.
What is Ashwagandha?
Aswagandha is also known as “Withania somnifera”. It's an adaptogenic herb that grows in India, the middle east and parts of Africa.
It can be bought as an over the counter product.
What Does it Do?
Ashwaghandha has some interesting properties.
It is mostly known for…
- Anxiety and stress reduction.
- Minor testosterone and power booster.
- Slightly cholesterol reducing (total cholesterol).
- Energy booster.
- Slight mood enhancer in people with depression.
- Slight libido enhancing (Very minor effects. Probably only because of the stress reduction properties. I.e. stress can counteract libido).
- Erection booster (little to no effects).
If you want to take a closer look at the studies made on the above listed benefits, you can find them on examine.com
But let's take a closer look at what experiences my YouTube subscribers have had with this herb, during their NoFap journey.
Why some guys use Ashwagandha during their NoFap journey…
I made a poll in the community section on my channel asking the following question…
“For those of you who have tried the herb Aashwagandha during your NoFap journey, how was your experience?”
700 guys, all doing NoFap, voted:
So, out of 700 voters, these are the results…
- Guys who noticed no results whatsoever: 44%
- Guys who noticed stress and anxiety reduction: 20%
- Guys who noticed a libido and erection boost: 17%
- Guys who noticed more stable energy: 10%
- Guys who noticed more self-control and thus a reduction in relapses: 9%
The results are not really surprising…
If you have been hammering your brain with all those super stimulating porn sites for years and years, it's difficult for a somewhat mild herb to be performing any miracles for you…
…especially when it comes to desensitization and porn induced low libido /ED.
Ashwagadnha for porn induced ed?
18% of guys who reported a slight increase in libido and erection quality. But keep in mind that not all my subscribers suffer from PIED. Perhaps around 30% of them do.
Also; some of them have “mild” PIED and not total 100% ED. This means that if you have PIED, your chances of Ashwagandha helping you is probably much lower than 17%.
So what would be the actual chances of it working for you if you have PIED?
Well, 10% or maybe even less?
Who knows!
To be honest, not that impressive.
My personal experiences with Ashwagandha for my PIED…
Since I've always been that kind of person who tries pretty much everything I can get my hands on, obviously I tried ashwagandha during my reboot as well.
If you're not familiar with my story I can tell you that I did not have total ED, but I had very sluggish erections. In other words; I had “mild PIED”.
My results…
- I noticed stronger morning wood.
- But it did NOT help my erections and libido during sex.
- I did, however, notice the stress and anxiety reduction effects.
So how come it affected morning wood more than daytime erections?
Well, night and morning woods are powered by testosterone while daytime erections need both dopamine as well as testosterone. And since ashwagandha does boost testosterone a bit, it makes sense that the herb affect morning and night wood.

I found something that worked better for my libido…
Just too bad it didn't help the sex part.
However, I did find another product, called VigRX that actually worked surprisingly well for boosting both my libido as well as my erections during my reboot. I have talked about that supplement on several occasions in other posts.
Now, if you're just too damn desensitized by all the porn you've been using, don't expect VigRX to perform miracles. However, I have to say that it did indeed help my erections during my rewiring phase…
…even though I was pretty desensitized myself.

The stress and anxiety reduction Ashwagandha can give…
While ashwagandha didn't give me any libido and erection boost during my PMO reboot, it did help a bit with reducing my anxiety.
Those of you who have been following my YouTube channel for a while now know that I have been suffering from anxiety, on and off, for most of my adult life, and that my anxiety was especially bad in the midst of my porn addiction.
Now it didn't work as well as prescription drugs, like for example Lorazepam or Xanax, but I did notice a perhaps 15-25% anxiety reduction (roughly estimated).
Not that bad for a natural compound.
I've always wanted to stay away from the benzos as much as possible, for obvious reasons. I mean, having a porn addiction is bad enough, so I've always been extremely careful not to get hooked on benzodiazepines as well.
NoFap and Ashwagandha
Conclusions and a warning
If you are looking for something to help boost your libido and erections, don't expect ashwagandha to be that effective. Especially not if you are suffering from PIED. VigRx is better in that case, but remember that there is no substitute for rebooting.
Rebooting is the only real fix for PIED and everything else is to be consider more or less helpful tools only.
However, erections aside, you might find it much more helpful for anxiety and stress reduction.
Some valid studies also point to a slight testosterone and strength increase.
Also, important: if you do decide to give it a try, make sure to not by the root powder, because if you do, you won't know if it contains a good amount of withanolides (the active compound).
You want to make sure it says either the text “KSM-66” or “Sensoril” on the bottle. This means it's standardized to contain at least 5-10% of said compound.
For example, this brand right here (found on Amazon), is standardized, as you can clearly see the “KSM-66” text on the jar. So that would probably be a good one to try, if you're interested in this herb.
