How Do I Make NoFap Easier? (7 Easy Tips)
How Do I Make NoFap Easier?
You just found it!
An easy to read article with 7 helpful tips on how you can make NoFap easier.
So grab yourself a cup of coffee, bookmark this page, and stay for a while.
Here we go…
#1 Get a buddy in on it…
Some of you may be a bit reluctant to this, but before you completely dismiss the idea, at the very least, try giving it some serious thought.
You see, having someone you can share your ups and downs with will make NoFap so much easier for you. And not only that, you'll get more out of the high parts then as well.
Here are some of the things a rebooting buddy can help you with…
- Help keep you accountable…
- Listen to your problems (after all, a problem shared is a problem halved)
- Give you advice…
- Inspire and motivate…
- Be there to share and compare benefits with you to make the journey more interesting…
What to do if no one of your friends believe in NoFap…
Sharing your journey with a buddy will absolutely make NoFap easier for you, but if you're not sure where they stand in regards to giving up porn, then how do you go about bringing it up?
Well, I recommend you choose your most empathetic and understanding friend and show him this video…
Show this video to your friend…
I hope you found the video informative. I created it a while back and published on my self improvement YouTube channel that goes under the name Project Stronger Self
Let's continue…
But what if I still don't want my friends to know?
Of course it's up to each and everyone whether or not they want to bring someone in on their journey, and hey, I hear you. Sometimes we just want to keep things personal.
That is certainly understandable, and fully OK.
If that's the case for you, at the very least I recommend you join an online forum where you can journal anonymously. This way you don't have to show your face or reveal your identity, yet you still reap the benefits of getting support and feedback from others there.
#2 Install a good porn blocker software…
Question: how do I make NoFap easier?
Answer: install a good porn blocker software!
It is not a bad idea to increase the friction by putting barriers between ourselves and the thing we want to not be doing…
…in fact, it is a very wise thing to do!
Even though you can't rely on those barriers to fully protect you -because let's face it, with enough effort you can always find ways around them- the smartest people in the world are taking advantage of the concept of increased friction.
These people can be high achievers who are not necessarily struggling with an addiction (although some do), but the concept of increased/decreased friction can also be used for things like…
- Increasing productivity…
- Avoiding distractions…
- Reducing procrastination…
- Getting rid of or reducing the amount of time spent on certain bad habits…
- And, sure, helping with addictions…
The addiction expert Anna Lembke calls the concept of increased friction for “self-binding strategies”.
A good porn blocker software is a “self-binding strategy”
Often times these self-binding strategies will prevent us from acting out long enough for us to overcome our urges. Or long enough for us to get better ideas and go do something productive instead.
This is why I recommend my subscribers to install a good porn blocker software and thus put the self-binding concept to good use. At least in the beginning of their journey….
…the first 30-60 days or so.
What's the best porn blocker out there?
At the moment I'm recommending a software called CovenantEyes.
I believe this software is the best as it is powered by a combination of two things…
- Blocking adult content…
- Monitoring you internet activity…
(It takes screen shots and sends a report to your accountability buddy if you start viewing erotic content).
Now, the screen shot that is sent to your accountability buddy will be blurred, so the visuals won't come as a slap in the face, but it's clear enough for him to see if what you had on your screen was real porn or not.
The blurred report…
It's very good that they use a blurred system. Because hat way your accountability buddy doesn't get triggered himself – should he also be someone who is trying to quit porn.
The blurring effect is strong enough that no one is going to get triggered by it. Rebooter or not.
You also have an option to choose how strict the monitoring system will be. Which is great. And, whenever your buddy gets a notification it doesn't immediately say “relapse” or something like that. But it is a call to action for your buddy to go check the screenshots, and only then, if need be, reach out to you to check how you doing over there?
Just the thought of someone watching over you is very powerful…
Just knowing that your buddy will get a report if you start sidestepping and wonder into the land of porn, is extremely powerful. It really makes you think twice before clicking on anything inappropriate.
Not just twice…but 3x, 4x, 5x…
…and then ultimately, deciding against it.
Some only use the monitoring side…
In fact, it is so powerful that some guys choose to only use the monitoring function, without the blocker side.
I personally think that is a great idea as well, because then you actually have a choice to go to that porn site (no blocker preventing you), but then you yourself choose to not do it.
And the key words here are: choose not to do it.
That's great because then you actually teach your brain that, even if the temptation AND the possibility is there, you are the one in the driving seat and you are the one having control over your addiction.
Cheapest way to get the CovenantEyes software…
The absolute cheapest way to use the software is to click this CovenantEyes link now, and then use the promo code STRONGER at the checkout. That will also give you the first 30 days free of charge.
If you don't see an option to enter the promo code, don't worry, as long as you used the above link then it is automatically added in there. But if you do see a a box for entering the promo code, absolutely tyoe it in, just to be on the safe side and to make 100% sure you'll get the frist 30 days for free.
You can not go wrong with CovenantEyes and it will make your NoFap journey so much easier.
#3 Write down your “why” every single morning…
Everyone who are dong NoFap should have notebook close at hand that they use as their reboot journal.
You will make NoFap much easier for you if you every morning write down the following…
- Your why (your reason for doing NoFap)
- Predict your killzone (what dangers you think you might face during the day, and what you are going to do if it actually happens. E.g. you get hit by urges)
Both of those are more powerful than what you'd think…
Nietzsche said, “he who has a strong enough why, can bare almost any how”. And truer words were never spoken.
If you have a strong enough reason for why you want to do NoFap in the first place, then that alone will help you overcome many a cravings.
However, humans have a big problem…we tend to forget!
This is why it's not enough to just be thinking of our “why” every now and then. You have to remind yourself of it, on a daily basis. Of course that can be done in several ways, but one of the best ways to do it is obviously going to be to write it down…
…every…single…morning.
#4 Your “killzone”…
The second thing you should write down during your morning journaling is what dangers you could be facing during the day. This will be very helpful, simply because of the fact that you'll then be much more mindful when, and if, it actually happens.
That alone will make you stand a greater chance in the battle against your relapses.
However, to make it even more powerful, you should also write down what steps you are going to take, when the situation arises.
What you are doing here is essentially practicing on paper. And practicing, my friends, makes perfect!
It's like a fire drill, preparing you for what to do and rehearsing for it in advance.
#5 Don't be afraid of the urges – surf them instead…
Being afraid of your urges is not good. The same goes if you try tu push them away, or if you try to resist them.
Resisting urges may work for a little while, but they always come back – and if you pushed them away, they will actually be stronger the second time around.
Please read the above sentence one more time, as I'm not just pulling something out of my hat here. It is an actual psychological phenomenon called the ironic rebound effect, or the ironic process theory.
Take a look at a video I made a while back where I share more about the concept of urge surfing…
The concept of NoFap urge surfing
Guided urge surfing…
The video I talk about in the end of the guided surfing can be found right here.
#6 Avoid alcohol…
How many guys have relapsed just because they got a little drunk?
I'd say millions.
But not only that, because here's the deal…
Even two to three days after your night of partying, your prefrontal cortex is going to be underperforming. This is not good if you're doing NoFap, because the PFC is the very part of your brain that is responsible for self control.
And, obviously, reduced self control = increased risk of relapse.
Now, the several day effect on your PFC is mostly happening if you binge drink, and not so much with moderate use. But even with moderat use your PFC will start underperforming during very same day as you drink it.
Trust me on this, you will make NoFap easier if you cut the alcohol. Or at the very least, drastically reduce it.

#7 Avoid sugar…
Sugar is a bit like alcohol in that it spikes your dopamine. It activates your reward system.
That's not really the problem, though. It's more the crash that follows that is the problem.
You see, and hour or so after you've been eating a lot of sugar, both your blood sugar and your dopamine levels will come crashing down. They even drop down below your baseline levels for a while.
It is during that low point were your dopamine and blood suger are below normal, that you're really vulnerable to relapses.
The drop in blood sugar increase anxiety a bit and it also reduces self control. All this while the reward system is activated and is now looking for more dopamine, in whatever form it can get it.
A bad combination right there…
…it's like the perfect recipe for relapses.
So, if you stop having those two donuts with your coffee after work, it will make your NoFap journey significantly easier. Just trust me on that.
When will NoFap get easier?
This is a common question I get, and the shortest answer is: it's different for everyone.
But that's also the most boring answer, right?
I have made an article where I've tried to calculated some guidelines from average numbers I have seen during my 10 years in the rebooting community.
You can find it here: When does NoFap get easier.

Final words…
Obviously there are a lot more tools and tricks than these, but I wanted to make a short and powerful article, where I include tips that have been shown to have the absolute biggest impact on people out there.
Don't just read about them, do your best to implement them as well.
