The video and the blog post are information only and not medical advice. I'm not a doctor. I'm just a guy who suffered from PIED myself. However, I do have A LOT of experience and I have been involved in the PMO rebooting community for 10 years by now.

How To Know If You Have Porn Induced Ed (PIED)

First things first, let's start by sorting a few things out here.

Have you even failed in the bedroom, in the first place?

Please stay calm and find your category below…

Have you even failed to get hard in the bedroom in the first place?

If you have not failed: and if you can get hard on your own, without using any porn, i.e with porn-free masturbation only, then maybe you are just worrying too much? When the time for sex comes, you might perhaps find that you are fully functional.

You are now in a position that you can't possible know with 100% certainty whether or not you have porn induced ED.

If you have failed: then there could be several reasons for this. Over consumption of porn could be one of them, but there are certainly other potential causes to consider as well.

If you have not failed in the bedroom, but you can't get hard on your own: if you haven't failed in the bedroom (because you have not tried for a while -so you just don't know) but you can't even get hard on your own -using porn or not- then you definitely have some kind of problem.

Can you get hard when masturbating to porn?

Try to masturbate to your favorite porn and pay attention to how solid your erection is.

If you are rebooting (doing NoFap) and you don't want to relapse, or break your streak, then simply just recall the last time you masturbated to porn…

…how was your erection?

If you can't get hard with porn…

If you fail to get hard when masturbating, even with the help of porn, you either have…

  • Some organic issue…
  • Some hormonal problems…
  • Severe depression or being very neurotic in some way…
  • Severe / progressive PIED

You are now in a position that you definitely need to see a good doctor!

In this situation, there is a pretty big risk that there is more than porn induced ED going on.

That said, some guys who have been using porn well past the point when they started noticing sluggish erections, can develop progressive or severe PIED. In other words, they are so desensitized by all the super stimuli that they can no longer get hard. Not even to various degrees of extreme porn.

If you can get hard with porn…

If you can get hard when masturbating to porn, but you can't get hard in the bedroom, you either have…

  • Porn induced ED (very likely).
  • Performance anxiety (also likely).

If, you can, get hard when masturbating to porn, but you can't get hard in the bedroom, then at least you know that you don't have any organic or hormonal issues. Because problems like that would not just magically disappear when you fire up a porn site.

In this situation you only know that you either have porn induced ED or performance anxiety and that you do not have any organic or hormonal issues.

Can you get hard with porn-free masturbation?

What if you go to the bathroom and try porn-free masturbation?

Don't fantasize about any porn scenes. Just try to masturbate to sensation only.

Could you do it?

Couldn't get hard…

If you could't get hard when masturbating in the bathroom, without using any porn, then these three things could be going on…

  1. You have porn induced ED and you need the porn in order to get hard. (Most likely scenario)
  2. You are too neurotic and freaking out during the test. (Less likely, but still possible. Solution: try the test several times and do it when you're are feeling less anxious).
  3. You're depressed and your dopamine levels are just too low for powering an erection without any arousing aid of some sort. Even less likely, but still possible).

Why the potential depression issue?

Dopamine is one of the key chemicals that drives your libido. And if severely depressed, then you might just be too low in order to get it up. Then, with the help of some porn, you might just barely reach levels high enough for achieving an erection…

…if this is the cause, then you would probably notice somewhat sluggish erections, even with the help of porn.

You could get hard…

If you could get hard masturbating in the bathroom, without using any help (porn or other artifical erotic stimuli),  but you've failed in the bedroom then there are 3 things to consider…

  1. You could have performance anxiety in the bedroom (most likely)
  2. You no longer have or never had any PIED
  3. You still might have some lingering, very mild PIED

This is a pretty good place to be in!

By that I mean that, if you can get hard to touch alone, not using any porn, then your ED is starting to look more like performance anxiety. In other words, you do not have any organic issues, and you probably don't have PIED to any severe extent.

However, you still might have some, mild, lingering PIED.

Why might mild PIED still be an issue in this case?…

This is a bit confusing, but here's the deal…

Porn induced ED is caused by two things.

  • Desensitization (a numbing of your pleasure response in your brain).
  • Sexual conditioning.

Sexual conditioning is at play here…

…you have been pairing your sexuality with porn, plus your hand, for so long that that's the fundamental equation for powering your erections have become…porn + hand = erection.

Discover >a good online course for quitting porn<

When trying the masturbation test in the bathroom, you are still using one part of that equation (you hand). And thus the brain might be reminded of the porn to such degree that it fires up the old porn addiction pathways in your brain, giving you an erection.

However, if this were to be the case for you, then don't worry. Just the fact that you can't get a solid erection without using porn is a sign that you are very close to being free from PIED, and that if you still have issues in the bedroom, it's just a matter of a bit more rebooting. In particular, more of the rewiring part. More on that further down.

Alright, having gone through all of that, now you have a few things to consider.

So, let's say you now come to the conclusion that PIED seems to be the most likely explanation for why you have failed in the bedroom…

…what do you do then?

You Took The Test And You Suspect That You Indeed Have PIED – Now What?

Well the real cure for PIED is pretty straight forward.

You need to do a porn reboot.

A porn reboot (often also called PMO reboot) consists of two parts…

  • You stop using porn (obviously since that's the cause of your ED).
  • You start spending more time around real life people (this part is often called ‘rewiring', in the rebooting community).

The more time you can spend around girls (or men, if that's your thing) that you find attractive, the better. This is because the rewiring phase is basically about ‘teaching' your brain where your libido is supposed to be used.

Rewiring does not have to be full on intercourse (although it can) for it to be effective. Just spending time around people will help.

You Could Try These Any Of These Libido And Erection Supplements…

During my own struggle with PIED I tried every libido supplement and erection booster I could get my hands on. Heck, I even tried using prescription Viagra during my reboot, to see if any of these options could help me have sex during the rewiring phase.

Well, to make a long story short, the Viagra did almost nothing for me, but in the end I actually found two libido supplements that was surprisingly effective.

The name of the supplement are…

Now, there are two things I want you to understand if you decide to try libido supplements or any other erection tool out there…

  1. Rebooting is the only real cure for PIED – supplements or anything else, are only to be considered helpful tools / training wheels.
  2. Some people have such a degree of PIED that not even the most effective tool will be of help.

Okay, so if you understand the above two things I see nothing wrong with you trying to use training wheels in the beginning of your reboot. I personally did, and it sure worked out well for me.

I recommend you try the VigRx first and see how that one is working for you. If it doesn't work, you could move up to AlphaViril. I'm saying this, because VigRx is milder and there's no need for you to cycle it.

AlphaViril, however, is more potent and you're best using that product in cycles. Just to be on the safe side with preventing any potential down-regulation of your own dopamine or testosterone production.

How To Tell If You Have Porn Induced ED (PIED) Final Words

I hope this article was informative and that it gave you some clarity.

In conclusion I would like to once again point out that, if you're having erection problems, it is always wise to see a good doctor, to start with, just so that you can rule out any other, potentially concerning health issues.

If the professionals can't find anything wrong with you, and you feel that many things in the PIED test rings true, you know what to do…bookmark this website and start rebooting.

You might also want to check out my YouTube channel, Project Stronger Self,  as I make a lot of videos about this very subject.

Rebooting, the only real cure…

Do not forget that rebooting is the real cure for PIED. So just because you find some training wheels that might potentially work for you, know that you still need to do a proper PMO reboot.
