Ok so does NoFap help with performance anxiety or is that just what we hope, as we consider giving up fapping for good in order to avoid more embarrassing moments in the bedroom?
Yes, NoFap can help with performance anxiety in several ways. In this article we are going to take a deeper dive into that and you’ll also discover a bunch of helpful tools you can use to quickly overcome performance anxiety in the bedroom.
Does NoFap Help With Performance Anxiety?
NoFap can really help your performance anxiety. It’s not even that strange actually and it is certainly not just some claims fanatic nofappers are tooting on forums out there.
Let’s first take a closer look at three legitimate ways NoFap can help with your anxiety in the bedroom and after that I will share some other helpful tools you can use to get rid of your performance anxiety…
…I think you might find this very interesting indeed…
There Are 3 Ways NoFap Can Help You Overcome Performance Anxiety
There might be more than 3 ways NoFap helps performance anxiety, but these three ways are the big ones for sure. Please read them all and I urge you to really consider them carefully.
Don’t dismiss any of them because they could be effecting you more than you actually think. You see, we are not always aware of what’s going on inside our brains…
…in fact, we are rarely aware of it.
First Way: Your Subconscious Mind is Being Programmed By Sex Gods…
There is no way of denying it, but your subconscious mind is being programmed by all the porn you are consuming.
Think about it. If you like porn, which most men do, your subconscious mind is regularly being exposed to strong clips and images of…
- Men with very big “tools”
- Sex heroes who can keep going for hours on end, making women scream with pleasure
- Extremely good looking, well trained and muscular men
These guys are of course selected into the porn industry because of their attributes and they do NOT represent the majority of us other, merely deadly men with normal sized “equipment”.
On top of that, the men in porn industry often inject their dicks with something called “caverject”, making them rock hard, even if they were to have a bad day without any libido. Not to mention all the cut scenes in combination with a perfect camera angles, to really portray them as even more of a sex god.
And so now you say, yeah yeah, I already know all of that. Fair enough, most of us DO already know this…
But it still gets into our subconscious mind and that does NOT help performance anxiety. Quite the contrary, since the subconscious mind is being programmed with all those images, a part of us believes this is the way we have to look and perform in order to not make our girl disappointed.
We then inevitable look at our self, with critical glasses and of course we pale in comparison to the “pros”…
…well, that’s a good recipe for massive performance anxiety right there.
But what if you stopped fapping to porn?
The ironic part is that many men think that porn can help them perform better themselves since they learn new “moves” and whatnot from all the porn they consume, but infact, it’s the other way around. If you stop fapping to porn those images in your subconscious mind would slowly pale and fade away and you would increase your chances for performing better yourself…
…pretty cool, right?
Who would have thought.
Second Way: Fapping To Porn Weakens Your Libido For Real Women
– At The Expense Of Your Erection Quality
If you frequently use porn two major things happen in your brain.
- Your reward center gets desensitized, making you feel more numb.
- The high dopamine rewires your arousal center to be more turned on by pixels on a screen rather than to real life women
Today’s high speed internet porn is what biologist call a “supernormal stimulus”. This means that it is something much more stimulating for your brains reward system than your cavemen ancestors could ever find in nature.
In one single porn session you can look at more hot babes than your ancestors could see in an entire life time. This means our reward system does not really come equipped with being able to handle all that high dopamine that’s being released during your several hour long porn sessions.
If fact, it is so stimulating and cause such a massive load of dopamine to be released that your brain will start protecting itself by reducing the number of dopamine receptors…
…this is bad.
You see, dopamine does its magic by binding to those receptors, and if your brain decides to knock out some of them, you are left with a disrupted dopamine system in your brain.
You do not want that because a disrupted dopamine system is associated with the following symptoms…
- Lower libido
- Weaker erections
- Lower motivation and drive for everything in life
- Poor focus and concentration
- Anxiety (particular social anxiety)
- Low mood
There are more symptoms, but those are the most common ones.
Needles to say, non of that will help you in the bedroom. In fact, it will most likely INCREASE your performance anxiety (look at the symptoms again).
Rewires Your Brain To Pixels On a Screen…
There’s another thing you need to know about dopamine. Dopamine is mostly our “motivation” and “go after it” neurotransmitter, but it is also the “learning” neurotransmitter…
…in other words, it teaches your brain WHERE the reward lies.
So if you constantly keep fapping to porn, your are in essence “teaching” your arousal center in the brain to become more aroused by pixels on a screen then by real life women. You should know that, for some guys, this rewiring can even become so severe that it leads to complete erectile dysfunction in real life…
…in other words, when they finally get with a real woman, they shockingly notice that there is little to no libido and, in worst case scenario, no response in their nether regions at all. This new phenomenon is called P.I.E.D, which stands for porn induced erectile dysfunction.
Now, the rewiring (and the PIED) is not an “on/off” switch, meaning it happens gradually and it can range all the way from you being just mildly affected – to semi effected – to severely effected and people who are mildly affected will almost always get hit by performance anxiety in the bedroom. People who are severely effected…well, they can’t even perform at all!
Let’s move on to the third way…
Third Way: Porn Addiction Makes Your Stress Center Hyperactive
– Making Your Much More Prone To Anxiety
Addiction is a strong word and many people get a bit shaken up by reading it as they imagine a pale white, shaky man in a basement somewhere, shooting up some chemicals into his veins….
….but addiction is a lot more than that as there are also behavior addictions, like for example…
- Gambling addiction
- Sex addiction
- Video game addiction
- Plastic surgery addiction
- Binge eating addiction
And make no mistake, most guys who are frequently fapping to online pornography have indeed developed some degree of addiction related brain changes.
No matter what addiction we are talking about, they all have one thing in common; they all share the same fundamental brain changes. That is how they are defined in the first place. One of those brain changes is a hyperactive stress center.
A hyperactive stress center makes you much more prone to anxiety in all kinds of different situations, as your brain is capable of turning any negative though pattern into self fulfilling prophecies…
…for example prophecies about failing in the bedroom.
And again, the hyperactive stress center will in and of itself make you much more anxious compared to if your stress center would be working like it was prior to you developing addiction related brain changes, with or without the negative thoughts.
Now, if you stop using porn and you go on a NoFap journey (also called PMO rebooting) those brain changes will reverse and heal, but it will take several months, so be prepared for that. I recommend you take a look at the article Tips for a 90 day pmo reboot.
Other Helpful Tools That Will Reduce Your Performance Anxiety
Ok, so by now you know that NoFap can indeed help with performance anxiety. Or to put it another way, fapping to porn makes your performance anxiety MUCH worse and when starting NoFap, it will therefore get easier for you…
…but is there something else you can do, other than NoFap, to help reduce your performance anxiety?
Yes there is!
Let’s take a look at a few of them…
Slow Breathing (semi fast relief)
Slow breathing always lower the anxiety levels if you do it the right way, and with a little practice this is something you can do in a discrete manner, without anyone noticing…
…yes, even during sex.
What you want to do is to breath in through your nose and out through your mouth and make your exhale longer than your inhale.
Here are some good breathing patterns for you to try…
- 3 seconds in – 6 seconds out
- 2 seconds in – 4 seconds out
- 4 seconds in – 6 seconds out
- 5 seconds in – 8 seconds out (this one is so long that it might be a bit difficult to do during sex, but it is possible)
…and so on.
Do a bit of experimenting those patterns and choose one that feels most natural to you and then start practicing it, several times a day and also, make an effort to practice it during ALL kinds of stressful situations, not just sex.
Now, if you refuse to do this during sex, in fear of feeling awkward, then at least do the slow breathing pattern the moments leading up to sex, as that alone will calm your whole system down…
…at least then you will go into the sex session with a calmer body and mind and thus maximize your chances.
Remember that you should practice it and that it takes a bit of time before you start to develop mastery over your nervous system by using slow breathing, but keep at it and after a few weeks you will notice results for sure.
ProVanax (very fast relief and works well)
I have personally suffered from anxiety most of my adult life, even before porn entered my life, so I have tried almost everything you can imagine and I really have to sa; when it comes to anxiety, Provanax has been a lifesaver for me.
Provanax is a natural anti anxiety supplement and it actually works surprisingly well. Most natural products don’t really do anything for me, but Provanax is different, it does the job.
I can feel the effects after about 45 minutes of taking it, but the strongest effects kicks in about 2-3 hours. If I had to estimate, I would say that it lowers my anxiety levels about 70-80%, which is very good for being a natural product, as far as I’m concerned.
I have used Provanax in all kinds of anxiety provoking situations with performance anxiety in the bedroom being one of them. Don’t get me wrong, it works for all kinds of anxiety, but it really shines in the bedroom as it also increases your dopamine levels a bit, which in turn increases your libido and hornyness. It doesn’t raise dopamine to the point of downregulating the receptors though, so don’t worry about that.
If you want to learn more about it, you can click here to read a full Provanax review that I made on another page, where I share my full experience with it, good and bad.

Meditation (good relief, but takes time to master)
Meditation is also a very good tool for reducing all kinds of anxiety…
- Social anxiety
- Performance anxiety
- Anxiety attacks
- General anxiety
There are numerous studies showing how meditation helps lower symptoms of depression as well as reduce anxiety levels. The main reason for this is because, by meditating, we learn to detach ourselves from our thoughts and also from our emotions.
It’s not that strange when you think about it. You see, one way of meditating is by focusing on your breath and as soon as a thought pops up (and believe me, they will), you just simply notice the thoughts and then return your focus back to the breath…
Every time you shift your focus BACK to the breath, you are literally training your brain how to NOT get dragged along by thoughts or emotions. Needless to say, if you keep practicing this with hundreds of meditation sessions, you will become a master at not letting negative thoughts or emotions get to you.
It takes time though, so pursue patience and keep practicing.
PF Stretching And Reversed Kegels (takes time before seeing relief)
Go down in a squat position and sit there for about 1-2 minutes, several times a day.
Now, why is this?
Ok, I admit, this tip does not affect performance anxiety in a direct way, but it will stretch your pelvic floor muscles, making them more flexible. This, in turn, will make you last longer in bed and not only that…
…it will increase your blood flow in your nether regions, giving you harder erections.
Again, it’s not really a tip for anxiety, although the potential increase in sexual performance can in and of itself boost your confidence in the bedroom and that increase in confidence may of course also result in lower anxiety levels.
No matter the cause, this squatting movement is very healthy for your pelvic floor, and I believe that everyone can benefit from doing them.
